Abstract: Cooking games like Overcooked and Papa’s Pizzeria are very popular among gamers. However, none of these cooking games have entered the league of the world's top competitive games like League of Legends, CS:GO or Fortnite. Since many competitive cooking TV shows exist, people are evidently drawn to the competitive tension of cooking. Moreover, there should be significant market demand for this type of game, especially among girls, who are an untapped market in the competitive gaming world. Thus, I present Mipot: a 2D cartoon cooking game developed using Unity software which allows players to team up and compete against other players acting as chefs. It is designed with properties that are reflective of typical successful games such as challenge and originality, as well as with design patterns that align with principles of modularity and object-oriented programming. This paper outlines principles for building a successful game, describes the design and implementation of various important systems that went into building Mipot, and analyzes strategies for optimal gameplay.
