Abstract: This research presents a comprehensive survey of different techniques and approaches for analyzing brush strokes in oil paintings using images with normals. The study is designed to develop a deeper understanding of these methods, with particular emphasis on the use of the resources provided by photometric datasets. The research includes a critical review of existing literature in this field, as well as original research findings. The primary objective of this study is to provide a valuable resource for professionals such as art historians and conservators, who require a comprehensive analysis of brush strokes in oil paintings. By contributing to the body of knowledge in this area, the research aims to enhance our library of possible techniques to be used for the analysis of brush strokes in oil paintings, which can ultimately facilitate the preservation and restoration of these valuable works of art.
