Abstract: | This paper details the process behind designing, developing, and evaluating a mobile application, RecipeGo. The mobile application is built upon a Ruby on Rails API that interacts with a user interface developed with React Native. With RecipeGo, users are able to log and keep track of current fridge, freezer, and pantry inventory and receive recipe suggestions based on what is available to them at home. Through the use of web scrapers, the application collects recipes from the BBC Good Food website to recommend to its users. RecipeGo aims to tackle the global food waste problem and encourage users to consume the vast majority, if not all, of their groceries before expiry. |
