Abstract: In today’s world of sports, athletes, both professional and nonprofessional, are increasing their athleticism, setting new standards to be met by the coming generations. These standards often require athletes to make sudden, explosive movements during training and gameplay. A number of popular sports demand that athletes perform jumps in this manner, with jumping higher giving athletes a clear competitive advantage. While improving jumping technique can assist athletes in increasing their vertical jumping height, improper biomechanics place athletes at higher risks for injury. This thesis details the design, implementation, and evaluation of JumpRight, an IOS application that analyzes jumping and landing mechanics of athletes to improve jumping performance and prevent knee injuries.
