Abstract: Pediatric oncological medicine is often studied distinct from sociological theory beyond the acknowledgement of psychosocial difficulties. It is also a hyper-specialized subspecialty of medicine, so studies aren’t often performed with diverse samples outside of developed countries. Using qualitative analysis of 19 pediatric oncology healthcare provider focus group transcripts from 16 different institutions, I first generate the generic form of the institutional environment of these healthcare centers so that I can later use these findings to examine the context within which organizational deviance occurs. Through these findings, I display the benefits of integrational analysis and magnify the importance of institutional-level focused policy changes.
