Abstract: The report assesses progress made and addresses critical issues facing Afghanistan in the areas of security, regional relations, elections, governance and rule of law, the economy and human development, and policy in the region and macro region. The report includes recommendations in relation to these issue areas for the Afghan government, for the international community, and for the United States. The recommendations came from discussions held under the auspices of a colloquium convened by the Liechtenstein Institute on Self-Determination in September 2008.
