Title: Data Center Instrumentation Project
Authors: de Groot, Peter
Advisors: Wentzlaff, David
Department: Electrical Engineering
Class Year: 2015
Abstract: This project is meant to develop a wired Ethernet-based sensor network in order to monitor the environmental conditions present in a data center. Once the project has developed to include a larger number of sensors, the sensor network can be deployed to data centers on the Princeton University campus for performance testing and general operation. The information received from the sensor network will allow for a more accurate thermal mapping of the data center and will allow any air flow issues to be identified more easily. The current report represents a summary of the work completed so far, specifically the implementation and testing of a small scale version of the sensor network.
