Abstract: This paper investigates the factors that influence human-human interactions in a simple tracking task, involving shared decision making. We strive to develop an understanding of the underlying patterns in the decision making process by considering a wide range of situations, requiring varying degrees of negotiation and conflict resolution. First, we study the general behavioral tendencies of the participants in the task by performing statistical analysis of the experimental data. Then, we review an existing continuous-time dynamical model of the observed human behavior developed by Professor Leonard’s research group and explore how variations in the model parameters affect the outcomes of the decision making process. We conclude by conducting analysis of the phase plane space for the model. We computed the equilibria of the system numerically and explore stability and bifurcations.
