Authors: Good, Keelan

Department: Sociology
Class Year: 2024
Abstract: This paper examines the rationale behind continued investment in artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous vehicle (AV) technologies, focusing on investment in Cruise as the primary case study. Despite several public disasters and challenges faced by autonomous vehicles in urban environments, venture capital firms and large public companies persist in their investments often at the cost of the safety of the general public. This paper aims to explore the factors driving these investments and the societal implications that these investments have.
