| Abstract: | We prove a local version of the Chebotarev type theorem for prime geodesics in the case of SL_2(\Z). That is, we prove that under the reduction modulo p, \rho: SL_2(\Z) \to SL_2(\F_p), the primes in SL_2(\Z) are equidistributed exactly among those conjugacy classes that are in the image of \rho. |
