While the situation in Jammu and Kashmir in terms of incidents of terrorist violence and related casualties has shown a perceptible improvement, however, the summer of 2010 witnessed unprecedented violence in the Valley in the form of protests and agitations turning violent and the security forces being attacked, in particular, stone pelting by a section of youth. The level of violence came down considerably by end of September, 2010 and the situation is under control. In the North- Eastern states, situation has improved in terms of casualties of civilians and security forces. Naxal violence saw an increase in terms of number of incidents and casualties of civilians and security forces as compared to the corresponding period of 2009. The Communal Situation in the country by and large remained under control.” |
