Abstract

“The Ministry, of Home Affairs was concerned mainly with 'Public Services' and 'Public Security'. The Ministry was also­ responsible for the -teaching of Hindi to Central Government Servants in office scattered throughout India. It is also responsible· for the Administration of -the Union· Territories of Andaman and' Nicobar Islands, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Laccadive, Minicoy• and Amindivi Islands, Manipur and Tripura. In addition, the Ministry is also concerned with the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled, Tribes and other Backward Classes, improvement in Fire Services, Emergency Relief and Social Welfare programmes. It also continues to deal with the residuary matters resulting from the Reorganisation of States.”
