Abstract: This paper explores the economic impact of Uber's entry into cities on the salaried wages of individuals, focusing on specific demographic variables such as race, gender, educational attainment, and age. Using an event panel regression and data from 2008 to 2019, the study examines the changes in total population wages after Uber's entry into a city and analyzes the wage differences between different categories of demographic variables. The paper also performs a staggered event panel regression to analyze wage trends year to year for both pre-Uber and post-Uber years, focusing on wage trends among specific demographics. By studying the effects of Uber on salaried wages, this research provides insights into the broader economic impact of the gig economy on the labor market as a whole.
