Title: Autonomous Transit Systems in Practice: An Exploration in Door-to-Door Transit in North San Jose
Authors: Ding, Amy

Department: Operations Research and Financial Engineering
Class Year: 2014
Abstract: Although Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) and autonomous vehicle technologies have presented viable transportation solutions for many years already, the public investment in these technologies is still quite minimal. Two key factors prohibiting his transition process and cost and public perception. Using San Jose, CA as a case study, I will be investigating possible transition factors in the planned re-zoning and development. The results from my research can subsequently be applied to other areas around the country interested in investing in a new autonomous transit system, to serve as examples that will push forward national adoption
