This thesis explores identity and well-being vis-a-vis the South Korean military service primarily through insights gained from interviews with my father and former college-aged conscripts. Through these interviews and in relation to D.P., a Korean show, I trace South Korean military conscription’s effect on my interlocutors, particularly in relation to their identities. By doing so, I also take note of similar and different aspects between my father and younger interlocutors’ services. This project was approved by the Institutional Review Board.en_US
